    Meets 8 Monday evenings, January 11 - March 8, 2010 (no meeting Feb 8), 6:30-9:00pm.
Gather with other women survivors of sexual trauma in this workshop, and write in response to exercises chosen to elicit deep-heart writing, and deal with such subjects as: body image, family/community, sexuality, dreams, love, faith, and more. • Beginning Thursday, January 21. Healing Through Writing: A workshop for folks living with cancer. Free!
Meets Thursday mornings, January 21 - March 4, 2010, 10am-12pm. Offered through the UCSF Mt. Zion Art for Recovery program.
These eight-week workshops are for anyone dealing with cancer and its effects, who is interested in self-exploration and sharing. Studies have shown that the simple act of writing, like art making, about emotionally difficult events or feelings has a positive effect of the immune system. Writing and poetry offer a wonderful way to reevaluate your priorities and to discover your personal source of meaning and hope in the face of life-threatening illnesses. No writing or poetry experience is necessary to participate.

  • Saturday, January 30, 1:00 to 4:00 PM: Declaring Our Erotic -- Let's write about sex!
An erotic writing workshop for queer women -- in honor of the Body Heat: Femme Porn Tour!
The fee for this workshop is a wicked low $20!

Ever read through a sexy short story and thought, "I could do that!" This writing workshop is for queer women who's considered writing erotic stories or writing about sex, or who'd like to get more comfortable doing so! We each need safe space in which to be our whole erotic selves -- to delve into the fantasies and imaginings that we've learned or been told don't "go with" our public sexual identities.

In this workshop we'll celebrate and struggle with the fullness of our erotic expression. In this 3-hour class, you'll have the chance to try your hand at some explicit erotic writing. We'll write in response to exercises designed to tap into different aspects of our sexual selves: memory, fantasy, experience, relationship with the body, and more. Don't be surprised if you find, as have previous participants, that you're more comfortable discussing your own sexual desires after practicing writing about fictional sex! Bring your notebooks or laptops and your most open mind.

  • Beginning Tuesday, February 2. Declaring Our Erotic: an erotic/sexuality writing workshop for ALL queer survivors of sexual trauma!
Meets 4 Tuesday evenings, February 2 - 23, 2010, 7-9pm. At Modern Times Bookstore (888 Valencia Street (at 20th), San Francisco). $50-100, sliding scale.

Come together with queer survivors of sexual abuse (open to all gender identities) to create a space in which we struggle with and celebrate our complex sexualities, in an attempt to become less isolated around, and more comfortable talking about, our sexual desires. Each week, we will write in response to exercises designed to tap into different aspects of our sexual selves: memory, fantasy, experience, relationship with the body, and so on.

Wednesday, February 10, 2010: Quick-n-Dirty: An Erotic Writing Workshop with Jen Cross

Ever wanted to try your hand at writing erotica and found yourself stuck? Want to connect with other local lustful scribes? Then catch this workshop designed to spark your creative (and other!) energies and tap into new writing realms. A widely-anthologized erotica writer, Jen Cross has also been facilitating erotic writing workshops for 6 years -- let her introduce you to some new enticements for getting those hot stories out! Just bring your favorite notebook and writing implement, and your most open mind.

This fourth line-up will feature Body Heat founder and spoken-word performer Kathleen Delaney (Atlanta, GA.), former On Our Backs editor, radio personality, and acclaimed author Diana Cage (NYC), Sister Spit vet, former slam champion, filmmaker, and writer Meliza Bañales (San Francisco, CA), published author and sex-workshop facilitator Jen Cross (San Francisco, CA), Nationally renowned singer / performer Nicky Click (Durham, NH), The Femme Show founder & performer Gigi Frost (Boston, MA), Mother Wit and Dirty Queer founder Sossity Chiricuzio (Portland, OR.), Erotic writer and versatile performer Alex Cafarelli (San Francisco, CA.), and Queer Drag King performer Al Schlong (Atlanta, GA).

Celebrated sexologists and authors Carol Queen and Shar Rednour are just two of the special guests that will join the tour in cities across the Nation.

Hailed by the Center for Sex Positive Culture (Seattle, WA.) as “The best Femme porn writers in the country,” this is the tour’s fourth outing, with their first taking place last year in April of 2008 and starting with a sold-out show at the Center for Sex and Culture in San Francisco, CA and ending in Atlanta, GA. The tour hopes to support and promote queer femmes in their contributions to erotica, the sex industry, the sex-positive movement, and in forming a more complex sexual identity through art and performance.

The tour is in need of bookings and can be contacted through Myspace at: www.myspace.com/femmeporntour. The site also holds their tour blog and upcoming tour dates. If you are a queer femme who specializes in smutty poetry, burlesque, queer porn, and/or performance and would like to perform with the femmes on one of their stops, you can also contact us at femmeswriteporn@yahoo.com.
