Treat yourself to a day of good writing, good food, and good community!

We'll gather in the morning for coffee and some home-baked breakfast, and then write through the rest of the morning. After a break for a light lunch, we'll keep on diving deep into our work through the afternoon! At the end of the day, we'll have some conversation about revising and editing our work, and we'll close by four.

As for all the other writing groups, we will be using the Amherst Writers and Artists workshop method. You'll leave with: a rich body of new creative writing; feedback from your peers about what's already strong in your new writing; and some thoughts about revising your new work.

The cost will be $100. Please let me know if you'd like more information or would like to reserve a space.

  • Upcoming Special Events

June 7: Erotic reading with Center Women Presents and SFinX! - We've got two events to usher us into the madness of Pride month:

  • Center Women Presents is hosting an Open House at the LGBT CEnter (1800 Octavia at Market in San Francisco), and from 3-4pm will feature fierce and dirty readers from the Declaring Our Erotic writing workshops! More info coming soon.

  • Then, at 7pm: The Best of San Francisco in Exile: Past, Present, and Future. At Joe's Garage, 975 Howard Street, San Francisco; $10-20 sliding scale, nobody turned away. Started in 2001 by queer arts visionaries Kris Kovick and Sara Moore, San Francisco in Exile has been a cornerstone of San Franciscan queer and outsider culture -- promoting new and emerging queer artists alongside queer arts Most Valuable Players; showcasing and exploring everything from femme and pansy fabulousness to homo hip-hop; and queering everything from virginity to work. Join Meliza Banales, Sherilyn Connelly, Jen Cross, Gina de Vries, Cindy Emch, Logan Knight, Leah Lakshmi Piepzna-Samarasinha, Robert Lawrence, Zuleika Mahmood, and horehound stillpoint as they read fabulous new stuff and tell tales of Ye Olde SFinX days.

September 12-15 at The Power of Words -- Liberating Yourself and the World Through the Spoken, Written & Sung Word: Jen will present a transformative writing workshop and reconnect with amazing writers, storytellers, activists and TLA practitioners at this annual conference at Goddard College. Want to learn more about this conference? Check out www.goddard.edu/powerofwords!

  • Monthly Erotic Reading Circle at CSC:

Join Carol Queen and Jen Cross and your fierce, fabulous community of erotic writers the fourth Wednesday of every month, as we gather to share our creative erotic endeavors! Bring whatever you're working on, or whatever you'd like to be working on.

Non-judgmental listening guaranteed, all orientations and levels of writing experience welcome.

$5-up sliding scale suggested donation, no one turned away for lack of funds (donations support the Center for Sex and Culture).

Come on over to the Center for Sex & Culture, 1519 Mission, Suite 1, San Francisco.
